Quitting
Quitting smoking can prove to be one of the most difficult things in a persons life to achieve. Due to the addictiveness of the nicotine contained within a cigarette or cigar, smokers feel the need to have another cigarette evey hour or two.
In trying to quit, a lot of people wait until new year's eve and then make a new years resolution to quit. This usually gives them a reason to try, although unfortunately many people fails and begin smoking again within days.
People who try to quit are as addicted to the feeling of having a cigarette in their hands as much as they are to the nicotine itself. People who have quit do say how they miss having something in their hands and quite often don't know what to do with their hands.
A major problem to people quitting was if they went to a pub. Maybe friends or strangers would be having a drink and a cigarette, and the lure was there for them to start smoking again. A government motion a few years ago led to there being no smoking in public buildings and so people would have to go outside to have a smoke. This did aid a few people who wanted to quit, as they would now be expected to go outside in all types of weather.
